Key Achievements

  • Recovered and repaired a damaged vehicle in Iraq that was damaged by a road-side IED. Identified damaged running gear and turret equipment. Ordered necessary parts, Striped and prepared where possible whilst waiting for parts. Repairs included but not limited to drive socket, road wheels, hubs, track, 24v batteries, harness cabling. Worked through the night and days during two mortar attacks, I got the tank back to battle ready in four days returning my section to 100% effective.
  • Hydro gas suspension unit had started to fail on a heavy tracked vehicle whilst on deployment in Canada. If left this would result in poor performance of the vehicle and additional wear to other components and worse case catastrophic failure which would impact the company's effectiveness. Parts were ordered and I set to work dismantling the track and striping off the faulty unit, installed the new unit and torqued all bolts as per manufacture specs. Reassembled the track and tested vehicle over rough terrain. Completed whilst the unit was on rest so the combat effectiveness of the company wasn’t affected and the vehicle was back to full capability ready for the next mission.
  • 2008 Ford Ranger developed an issue with oil appearing in the coolant header tank. I diagnosed that the oil cooler was faulty. After ordering new seal and gasket sets for the turbo, the filter manifold, the oil cooler and the oiler itself. Striped out the required parts to get access to the cooler (which is housed under the filter manifold) and removed the cooler, cleaned and replaced and reassembled in the reserve sequence. I then flushed the whole system several time with detergent, water and then fresh coolant to ensure all oil reside was gone. The issue didn’t return.
